Location: Jungle
Challenge Course
Free women only, all roll
2d23 for this event only.
A race through a Schendi jungle course that has been
carefully cleared and made much safer, armed only with a
basket of tospits (ammunition). Must go ten rounds through
jungle obstacles to determine winners and those dropping out
due to treacherous jungle conditions. Any competitor not
reaching a 10 on either die in each round will face another
challenge. Not reaching a 10 on either die in the second
challenge means failure to finish the round, and you must be
eliminated from the competition or treated by healers if
necessary .
None of the jungle animals/creatures are "tame" of course.
But they are small nondeadly creatures, and Askari will be
available at each leg of the course to prevent serious
injury of the competitor, though minor injury is still
possible.
(Keep in mind no points awarded unless over 15 on either
die, having a ten just allows you to remain in race without
having to fight!)
Round 1
Runners! You must run through the jungle along the
slippery path with a family of jits loose in the area! (If
you do not get a 10 on either die, it means the jits are
chattering and throwing fruit at you, so you must chase them
off with a tospit throw...a roll over 15 in that throw means
you at least slow down the jits enough to finish. Less than
a 15 roll means you cannot get past the jits and are out of
the race.)
Round 2
You must grapple a vine ahead of you and successfully leap
across a 3 ft tall gorge. If you fail, roll again to
determine if you were too injured to finish the race (minor
injuries, possibly sprained ankle or wrist).
Round 3
You must now successfully traverse through this
section across a rope bridge!!! Go fast but keep your
footing! If you fail, roll again to determine if you caught
hold of the side rope or fell to the jungle floor below
(minor drop, probably no injuries but you cannot get back up
fast enough to finish).
Round 4
Giani! You must make it through a small cave without having
to fight off the giani with a tospit-throw! A failure in a
first roll means the small cat is growling and blocking your
path, and you must try to chase him off. Another failure
means you cannot get past and are out.
Round 5
A cliff ahead! You must rock climb down without
falling into the waterfall pool. Again, if you fail, roll
again to determine if you were too waterlogged to climb back
up to go to the next challenge or if you must be helped by
Askari and are eliminated.
Round 6
Past the half way marker! Beware of pit traps
placed underfoot along the trail. Use your vines!! A failure
sends you into a small pit. Roll again to determine if you
are able to climb back out and finish the race or if you
have to be helped out and are eliminated.
Round 7
You must pass through the ruins and get through a small
opening by using a panga to cut away vegetation. If you
fail, it means you were not strong enough to hack through
the vines but can try again. Failure on the second roll
means an Askari had to help you, so you are out of the
competition.
Round 8
Almost back! You must climb up a tree with many
branches (handholds and footholds) to get up to a ledge so
you can finish the race. A failure here allows another try.
If you fail again, you cannot make it up to the ledge and
will have to drop out and walk the long way around to get to
the finish line.
Round 9
Flag ahead! You must jump while running to grab the flag,
hanging high from a branch you must pass under. If you get
the flag (roll over 15), you are awarded an additional 3
points! If you only roll 10-14, you get through the section
but get no points. If you do not roll at least a 10, you
sprained an ankle and cannot finish.
Round 10
The finish line! Beach seen ahead through the undergrowth!
Get the flag to safety. Hurry! (Highest score, meaning
fastest, gets an additional 2 points. Anybody who makes it
to this point, finishes the challenge.
Winners first, second and third if there are any left
standing will be determined by highest individual scores of
all entries!
(All scores will be added highest individual score
assumed the fastest well skilled.)
